[Modeling] Circuit of Monza Empty [Modeling] Circuit of Monza

Post by Golf Fri Feb 25, 2011 1:01 am

Well, here we go I decided to focus on modeling again. I started a Mustang GT 2003 1 year ago when a friend of mine explained me modeling in 3DSMAX.
I was doing well with the body but when it came to tricky & detailed parts, I lost patience & decided to learn converting (with the help from some guys, they know who they are Wink
Now I don't have 3dsmax installed so I'm using Cinema4D to model. It's not a bad program, anyway I'm not very used to it.
I can't align blueprints correctly so I'm mostly using reference pics & my Scale Models (collected them since i was a little kid). Also using blueprints for 2 views.

Anyway, I decided to work on Porsche 911 Carrera (1998). Ofc with errors, I have almost finished the front bumper:

      [Modeling] Circuit of Monza 2

this is the real car btw:

      [Modeling] Circuit of Monza 1998%20Porsche%20911%20Carrera%204%20(996)%20Coupe%20f3q

Wireframes are screwed Very Happy so I know I'm gonna get a lot of critiques but it's like i'm doing it for the first time Smile

thanks for the positive feedback guys. The hood & the doors actually look good (they have a lot of polies though). Front bumper looks a lot better now thanks to freaks visual advices. The fender is a pain to achieve a good result. I have posted it in these pictures below but as you may see I cannot get a smooth round shape (it's like the fender round part is with a lot of corners & that's why the wireframe is messed in that part).

I have been working on my own version of Monza's Circuit. I have progressed a lot (which I didn't expect tbh) I have some screenshots that create a general idea. There are no borders, walls etc.

[Modeling] Circuit of Monza Th_2-7[Modeling] Circuit of Monza Th_1-8

It is all scratch-made & mapped by me. Has 2 spectator panels, a pit-building, a water-tank & a small parking. Unfortunately I haven't got much reference so that's my imagination. The track is accurate though.

Tracks can be put in World Racing 2. I don't know about NFS games but I don't think there are tools for it. (it must be done with reverse-engineering)

I have always thought they are texture/geometry modifications of the existent tracks.

That's what I thought too. Will see what I can do.

btw I have some new updates on it. Here is just the map of it:

      [Modeling] Circuit of Monza Th_2-8

Here it's a preview with all accessories from the air:

      [Modeling] Circuit of Monza Th_1-9

and here is a render from the main tribune:

      [Modeling] Circuit of Monza Th_3-3

      - I redistributed the position of accessories.
      - Re-sized the track cause I found it pretty small compared to the buildings
      - Created an inner & outer barrier for the track
      - Created the barrier that splits the track from the pit-lane
      - The gap between the track & pit entrance is also fixed

Try searching for 'tree' at the Google Sketchup 3d Warehouse; they've got some really good ones, looks like.

Hehe, it's a F1 circuit, how come there are sheep & houses? Razz Razz
Audience would be alright but I need to know what's a track's poly limit for MM2? (DR can answer this, if he reads it)

For now I'm going to work on kerbs ,if it isn't the right word then this:
      http://www.profimedia.com/photo/race-track-kerb-with-tyre-marks-red/profimedia-0034438995.jpg

I would also like to improve trees & then I will try adding more accessories.
